Core concept of the Programme

The causes of conflict and violence and the approaches to addressing it are both deeply affected by personal experience and socialisation. This is the basic understanding of the programme and underpins the double learning approach which it takes. Double learning means that participants and practitioners are learning as are those with whom they are working.

The programme is built on the recognition that conflict is very often based on issues of identity and power, separately or combined and that such conflict prevents convivial life together. The programme will integrate the following approaches to conflict resolution:

• Enhanced communication skills;
• Mediation;
• Restorative justice;
• Dialogical and rights-based approach to community development.

The programme will develop Biblical, theological and spiritual resources in relation to conflict resolution and peace building and support the core concept of convivial life together in peace with justice.

Learning Programme will be run for one year as a process composing of:

• 4 international workshops (15th – 19th February 2021, 14th – 18th of June 2021, 11th – 15th October 2021, 24th – 28th January 2022).
• Mentoring and a peer learning system for the period between the workshops.
• Self-directed reflective learning supported by the use of a Handbook for the participants, a Learning Journal, resources for spiritual reflection and access to an on-line learning platform ‘Canvas’ and e-resources.

The Programme ends on the 31st of March 2022.

Qualification: The study Programme equals to 20/25 ECTS.
