Completed: Workshop Programme. Non-Violent Communication
A series of interactive on-line workshops for social and pastoral workers, diaconal workers and voluntary workers.
Invitation
Welcome to this workshop programme, which is for people who in their everyday practice are involved in conversations with people facing some difficulties or challenges in their life. It will help you develop your knowledge and skills in:
- Learning experientially and reflectively to recognise your own needs and needs of other people and communicate them in non-violent way;
- Learning to work with people in order to affirm common humanity, express compassion and practice accountability;
- Building an empowerment-based framework for practice and learning the skills of empowering communication.
Key Themes of the Workshop Programme
- The short workshop programme is based on the practice of non-violent communication that accepts people and encourages & supports them to take personal responsibility for their lives.
- Where the social context is a key factor causing the problems the person or group is facing the approach to communication aims to support empowerment rather than simply helping people to adapt.
- In the process of learning, the link between communication and the search for conviviality and social justice will be explored.
- Spirituality and theological reflection run through the programme and underpin the approach.
Methodology: The programme will blend the sharing of participants’ experience, gaining fresh knowledge and practicing new skills. The emphasis will be on a participatory approach to learning.
